Beijing Authorities have started to distribute to residents vouchers for a total amount of 12.2 billion yuan ($1.7 billion), to boost consumption and support the local economy.

Previously, this step went about 50 other Chinese cities, including Wuhan, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Shenzhen, according to Bloomberg. Vouchers can be used in shops, restaurants and cafes, for Internet purchases, to spend on sports, tourism or education.
