Along with Youssoufa Moukoko, Steffen Tigges was considered BVB’s storm talent – now the striker is moving to his competitor in Cologne.

Striker moves from Dortmund to Cologne: Steffen Tigges moves from BVB to 1. FC Köln. An unusual career decision at first glance, but the 23-year-old admits: a conversation with Cologne coach Steffen Baumgart was decisive. He “clearly showed him how he wanted to play and how I fit in with his idea,” says Tigges in the “Kölner Express”.

Short, compact, clear

Baumgart convinces Tigges personally: “I thought it was very good that he made it clear to me what I instinctively do well and where I still need to improve. He didn’t put honey on my lips, but gave his honest opinion about my strengths and weaknesses,” continues the 23-year-old.

Pledge of loyalty from day one: Like his new coach recently, Tigges confirms that Cologne is by no means “an intermediate station” for him. “Right from the start I had the feeling that Cologne and I were a good fit. So I can well imagine playing here for a long time.”
