Russian national idea is to patriotism, but it needs to not be leavened, and aimed at the development of the country. This was stated in interview to the program "Moscow. The Kremlin. Putin", a fragment of which was published on the page in Instagram its host Pavel Zarubin.

"Yes, in patriotism, I think there is nothing else can be, – he told, answering a question about what is the Russian national idea. But patriotism should not be leavened, musty and sour".

According to the President, "patriotism is to devote ourselves to the development of the country, its progress". "This does not mean that you have to grasp only for our heroic past, we need to look at our no less heroic and successful future, and this is key to success", – said Putin.
