The President of Russia Vladimir Putin congratulated cinema and theater actor Veniamin Smekhov 80th birthday, noting his multi-faceted career. The telegram published Monday on the Kremlin website.

"My generous, distinctive talent you have conquered the hearts of audiences of different generations, took place as a sought-after actor, Director and screenwriter, sold his talent in the literary field. This multi-faceted creative way worthy of profound respect, is an example of the highest professionalism and skill, fidelity to his vocation", – said in the telegram.

Veniamin Borisovich Smekhov was born 10 August 1940 in Moscow. In 1961 he graduated from the Theater school. B. V. Shchukin (now Theatre Institute. Boris Shchukin) in the State academic theatre im. Evgeny Vakhtangov. A graduate of the course of Vladimir Etush.

Best known laughing received as a film actor. The debut was the role of Baron Krause in the drama of Eugene Karelov "there were two comrades" (1968), and this popularity has brought the role of Athos in the film George Yungvald-Khilkevich "D`artagnan and the three Musketeers" (1978). Later Smekhov played in the continuation of the picture set the same Director – "the Musketeers twenty years later" (1992), "the Secret of Queen Anne or Musketeers thirty years later" (1993), "the Return of Musketeers or the treasure of cardinal Mazarini" (2009). In total he starred in over 30 films and television series.
