Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel exchanged congratulations in connection with 75-th anniversary of the liberation of Europe and the world from fascism. This was reported in the Kremlin.

According to the press service, the leaders held a telephone conversation.

“For Russia and Germany, this date has a special, symbolic meaning. Accented the importance of preserving the historical memory of the tragic events of those years. In particular, expressed confidence that both countries will never forget about the German patriots who fought against the Nazi regime”, – stated in the message.

Also during the talks, the leaders discussed the pandemic coronavirus and agreed to render each other mutual assistance in the fight against the spread of infection.
