Researchers in the United States and Japan found that in laboratory conditions, cats can easily become infected with a virus SARS-CoV-2, causing COVID-19, and can infect other cats. Article researchers published in the New England journal of Medicine.

Effective cure for coronavirus

In the study, three cats were injected with the virus isolated from humans with COVID-19. For three days the swabs taken from the nasal cavities of animals showed that all cats are infected. The next day after the animals were introduced infectious agent, every cell of the infected cats were placed in one healthy cat. Six days later they had identified the virus.

In this case, none of the cats do not have symptoms of the disease, and they all coped with the coronavirus. However, scientists warn that patients COVID-19 need to remember that they can transmit the virus to their Pets, which sometimes have severe respiratory symptoms. The researchers also are concerned that the results of scientific research can be misconstrued as proof of the danger of infected animals to humans. There is no scientific evidence that people can become infected with SARS-CoV-2 from cats.
