Every weekend, the staff of the Moscow library suggest books to parents with whom family night will be even warmer. Head of the branch library No. 258 Olga Dutova advises to remember the classics of Nordic literature for children, look at picture-books and get acquainted with the trilogy “the Dark origins” by Philip Pullman.

“Into the woods” Peter bagina

For reading with children I want to recommend “In the woods” modern graphic artist Peter bagina. This book is picture — just what you need for curious kids. Illustrations by the author, can be seen for a long time, and it will be interesting and fun not only for children but also for parents. The book is informative, it can help to explain to kids all about the seasons, and to be acquainted with the forest and its inhabitants. The text is written lightly, so that new knowledge fit into the baby’s head playfully.

Peter Bagin — master children’s book, perfectly depicting nature and especially animals. He illustrated the works of Yuri Koval, Sergey Kozlov, Mikhail Prishvin, as well as the tales of Alexander Pushkin. Bagin traveled extensively in the Russian North, Siberia and the Urals, gaining inspiration for their work. By the way, the illustrations created by Beginin to his book “Journey beyond the Arctic circle,” for forty years kept in the Tretyakov gallery. In 2001 the artist was awarded the gold medal of the Russian Academy of arts.

“About a kid who could count to ten” Alf prøysen

I think children’s books should first be informative. Reading or listening to a book, a child must learn something useful. For example, this book by the Norwegian writer Alf prøysen — not just a cautionary tale about curious funny goat and his friends. Along with the characters little one will learn numbers one through 10, will meet with the ordinal score and animals.

Alf prøysen (1914-1970) compatriots during the life proudly called classic. He is known not only as a writer but also as a composer, author and performer of songs for children. One of them nursery rhymes — “Tomorrow will surely come” (original title — Du ska on en dag i mårå) — sometimes called the unofficial anthem of Norway. In Norwegian schools the children sing it in music lessons.

“the Stories Lucy Sinitsyna, a student in the third grade,” Irina Pivovarova

This book is ideal for elementary school students. It has everything that worries people in the age eight to ten years: the friendship, the quarrel, teachers, first love. And so many kind of bullying!

Soviet writer and Illustrator Irene Pivovarova very subtly and with great humor describes the adventures of third-Lucy Sinitsyna. Children will be interested to know, were in those early years their peers, and their parents remember their own school time.

“the Wonderful adventures of Nils” Selma lagerlöf

the Book probably needs no long views, is a classic. Recall the story to those who read “the Wonderful adventures…” or watched the Soviet cartoon “the Enchanted boy” long ago and forgotten.

the Main character is a boy Niels, who likes to learn, but always ready to fool around. A victim of one of the tricks is getting the house, which intends to teach him a lesson. With the help of a magic spell, it reduces the boy to the size of small animals, which he hurt. Enchanted Nils begins to understand the language of animals and birds and looking at the world through their eyes. Traveling around the country on the back of a wild goose changes it. Home of nil will return a different.

the Book (the original name is somewhat longer: “the incredible journey of Holgersson Nils with wild geese across Sweden”) was first published in 1906. It was originally conceived as a guide to the geography of Sweden for children. The book was created by writer and former teacher Selma lagerlöf. But it was not enough just to write a textbook, so she came up with an instructive story about a boy and his incredible adventures. And to complement their own knowledge, lagerlöf during work and myself visited different parts of Sweden.

“When I was a kid, we had war,” Stanislav Olefir

Let the name you do not mind: this book is great for teenagers who are just starting to get acquainted with the works of the war. This is a very complex topic, and understand it to help just such works.

the Book is autobiographical — the author Stanislaw Olefir (1938-2015), which during the war was a child, recalls the events, the witness of which he has become. When you start to read if you find yourself in a German-occupied Ukrainian village. In the course of reading emotions alternate: sad — fun, pseudo — happiness. In my opinion, it’s more than a book, this link between generations.

“Northern lights” by Philip Pullman

this is the perfect book for anyone who loves fantasy. Here intertwine magic and science, fantasy and ordinary human experience. English writer Philip Pullman has created a world with its own hierarchy, mythology, and strange creatures. The main character — a brave teenage girl Lira, who must save his friend.

This is the first part of the trilogy “the Dark beginnings”. After reading you can also watch the movie “the Golden compass”, which Director Chris Weitz in 2007, filmed on the grounds of this colorful history. By the way, Philip Pullman for Northern lights received the prize named after Astrid Lindgren.

More great books, proven by the readers of children’s libraries and their staff, — in category .
