Pop singer Matthias Reim (64) canceled several concerts in September and October for health reasons. “Unfortunately, we have to inform you that Matthias Reim’s health has deteriorated in the last few days and he had to undergo intensive medical treatment tonight,” concert organizer Dieter Semmelmann wrote on Instagram late Thursday evening.

“In addition to his vocal cord inflammation, other, more serious problems have arisen that require long-term treatment and will take several weeks.” Among other things, performances in Hamburg, Potsdam and Nuremberg were planned in the next few weeks.

The concert promoter also wrote: “We have to give him a longer rest period and are confident that he will be fully fit again for the arena concerts in December.” Fans sent the singer well wishes via Instagram.
