U.S. Secretary of state Mike Pompeo urged not to believe claims that the pipeline “Nord stream-2” is a purely economic project.
“When Russia says “Nord stream-2″ is a commercial aspiration, do not be fooled,” — he said, speaking at the Munich security conference on Saturday, February 15.
Pompeo also announced the US decision to allocate up to $ 1 billion to Finance projects in the EU, which will allow to reduce dependence on supply of Russian energy resources.
He explained that this is done in the framework of the three seas, which brings together a number of countries in Central and Eastern Europe, bordering the Adriatic, Baltic and Black seas, Interfax news Agency reports.
state Department spokesman Morgan Ortagus said in his Twitter that these funds will help to ensure “sovereignty, prosperity, and energy independence for our European friends.”
U.S. Secretary of state also accused Russia of anti-Western disinformation campaign and in violation of the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate-range and shorter-range.
