Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow is not seeking to revive the format of the group of eight (G8), as fully satisfied with the effectiveness of the format “the Big twenty”. On Monday, reports TASS.
“Russia is not eager to join “the seven”. Moreover, Russia repeatedly talked about the fact that we are very satisfied with the effectiveness of such formats as “Big twenty”,” — said Peskov.
The representative of the Kremlin noted that the G20 format better meets today’s economic realities from the point of view of economic development in the world.
Earlier in an interview with a German Newspapers Heiko Maas said that sees no possibility of recovery of the group of eight (G8) with the participation of Russia in connection with the situation in the East of Ukraine, and also with the reunification of the Crimea with Russia.
1 July the President of the United States Donald trump said he intends to move the G7 summit in September and to invite four countries — Russia, Australia, India and South Korea. He is confident that the “Group of seven” is outdated and “does not feel the situation in the world.”
