Media materials in support of the suspect in the treason of adviser to the head of Roscosmos Ivan Safronov based on emotion, said the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov, proposing to leave the matter to the discretion of the court.
“We’ve read many of the materials that have been published on this subject. But these journalistic materials, mainly based on emotions. Of course, they do not have and cannot have under itself any real information about the results of the work of counterintelligence,” – said Peskov on a question, as evidenced by the Kremlin’s mistrust of a number of media to information about Safronov cooperation with foreign intelligence.
There are, according to Peskov, the charges also is the work of special services.
“the Guilt of a person can recognize only court. Prior to the beginning of the court to write opinions about the insolvency of certain charges, without having any information, at least, has nothing to do with professionalism. We did run into Safronov as a very talented journalist, we appreciate his journalistic talent, but we will not know the essence of the charges which sounded in his address. Responding to a question about how to know whether the President of the situation and public outcry in connection with the case Safronova, Peskov said that one should not confuse public resonance with resonance media. “Of course, we pay great attention to the opinions of those journalists that they publish. Peskov said that the President has the opportunity to request additional information about the case Safronov, but it is not a topic for the President. “The President, of course, possible, but, first, this is not a topic for the President, it is not a topic for the President, and the second is a consequence, the court will, here’s why we a priori assume some kind of distrust?” he said.
However, he ruled out the possibility of imposing Kremlin misleading in the case Safronova and stated that the Kremlin believes that the charges are not linked to his journalistic work.
Also Peskov, speaking about the case Safronova, said that he was not entitled to discuss what checks are made when recruiting in the Federal space Agency, and what positions there involve access to state secrets. “To me it would be wrong to talk about the recruiting of Roscosmos and somehow his comment, or other agencies. The only thing I can say, there are different departments, different mode for different positions,” – said Peskov.

Recall that Safronov was detained on July 7 on suspicion of treason because of work on one of the secret services of NATO. He was arrested “for a period of one month and 30 days.” The guilt the journalist not guilty.
