Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on the idea of the leader of LDPR Vladimir Zhirinovsky "to remove the issue" with the national voting on amendments to the Constitution, as the decree has been signed, stating that the President’s unequivocal position on this matter.

Zhirinovsky proposed "to remove the issue" with the national voting on amendments to the Constitution, as the restrictions related to the pandemic can be stored in the regions of the Russian Federation until the end of the year, and all the legal procedures in adopting the amendments was followed by the decree of the President.

"In this respect there is an unequivocal position of the President", – Peskov told RIA Novosti.

At the end of March, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a televised address to the Russians and said that originally scheduled for April 22, a nationwide vote will be postponed because of the situation with coronavirus. He noted that first of all guided by considerations of safety of people and their health.

The head of state has repeatedly said that the amendments be adopted and will come into force only after a vote.
