Photographer Mofid Abu Shalva from Saudi Arabia has created an incredible series of “portraits” of insects.

For this project Shalva traveled all over the world. He visited the forests of Austria, the Amazon and Malaysia. The main objective was to find the right insects in the wild. Many of them are threatened with extinction, says the photographer. A series of images from Shalva took several months.
