Due to allegations of racism, a candidate for the presidential and executive committee membership of Hertha BSC withdrew his application early. In the same breath he dismisses all guilt.
Waiver of application: Even before the extraordinary general meeting of Hertha BSC on June 26, candidate Marco L. Hennig withdraws his application as president and as a normal member of the executive committee, as “Bild” reports. He is reacting to accusations of racism circulating on the Internet, but at the same time emphasizes: “It has nothing to do with an admission of guilt.”
Short, compact, clear
Opinion? According to his own statements, Hennig does not want to comment further on the allegations. However, he knows that he “never made racist statements”.
The incident: The allegations are based on a screenshot of a Facebook post published on Twitter that Hennig is said to have posted some time ago. It shows a person of color working as a drinks seller and the caption: “Get Kalou in front of the lens while warming up before the game!” Salomon Kalou, who is probably meant by this comment, was once a Hertha star.
