Josh Little says Ireland are determined to bounce back in the show defeat by Afghanistan by winning three matches from the Netherlands.

“As disappointing as the Afghan string has been, I think that it’s recovered a significant urge to take three wins,” said Little.

“We’ve got the experience and capability to accomplish that.”

Small feels his game has improved under federal bowling lead Stuart Barnes following the prior Somerset coach combined the Ireland installment past summer.

“I have absolutely loved working with Barnsey. I met him for the very first time at Southampton and he has been fantastic for me and the bowlers ever since he pushes us difficult,” added the 21-year-old Dubliner.

“Not just from a bowling perspective, but also in the fitness and nutrition standpoint also. His expertise across the world is unquestionably a massive advantage for individuals bowlers to have accessible to us.

“Of late, he’s me working in my death bowling abilities – it is an integral place I am constantly seeking to improve and yet I have always wanted to be the best at.”

Ireland have won only one of the opening six qualifying games for the 2023 contest in India and success from the 2, 7 and 4 June games are going to be a significant increase as they pursue a top-eight complete in the league to secure automatic qualification.

Andrew Balbirne will direct an Ireland side that’s set to add all-rounder George Dockrell, that has been in scintillating form with the bat for Leinster Lightning from the Inter-Provincial Series.

“You wish to pick up things at which you may but you do not need to get carried away with things, you wish to put in great performances,” said the Irish skipper.

We have had a small drought but it’s an exciting summertime with eight ODIs. I am eager to see what this group could do after we perform with a run of fittings. We have got a pretty inexperienced side however a gifted and also an avid one.”

“I think George will play at five – he has been very good from the interpros he’s played up to now. He has been the best batsman at the contest. He had a setback at the beginning of the calendar year, not obtaining a contract, and has been advised to go away and work on his batting. He’s done precisely that.

“We hope he will bring this kind to the one-dayers and that he clearly provides us a little with the ball too, gives us a couple overs. We view him as a batsman who bowls today. I am quite interested to see how he belongs in ODI cricket like a front-line batter”
