Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia said that Ukraine in 2014 has paved the way for the reunification of the Crimea with Russia. About this he said during meeting of the Security Council with the participation of representatives of non-governmental organizations and the public.

the permanent representatives of Germany, France and the Czech Republic and also took part in the meeting the EU representative reiterated that does not recognize the reunification of Crimea with Russia, reports TASS. In their opinion, the referendum was held in violation of international law.

nebesa in response retorted that the events in Kiev in 2014, became the starting point for the people’s vote and the loss of the Peninsula to Ukraine.

the Ambassador recalled that the guarantors of the agreement between the opposition and former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych was foreign Minister of Germany, France and Poland. However, these guarantees have been violated on the next day Yanukovych was forced to flee the country, fearing for his life.

nebesa stressed that Ukrainians “have nobody to blame but themselves” because they “opened the way” to the referendum on the Crimean Peninsula.

In March 2014, Crimea held a referendum, which Crimea and Sevastopol became part of Russia. In Kiev the results of the plebiscite did not recognize and called the incident annexation. USA, EU countries and some other countries have introduced sanctions against Russia due to the annexation of the Peninsula.
