NATO believes that Moscow should lift the ban on inspection flights in the region of Kaliningrad and near the Russian-Georgian border, as well as to return to the full implementation of the Treaty on open skies (DON) that allow to preserve the agreement, despite the exit of the United States.

This is stated in the statement of the Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg, which leads TASS. Stoltenberg has accused Russia that she violated the terms of DON and thereby provoked the United States to unilaterally exit from the agreement. The Secretary General noted that Washington may reconsider its decision if Moscow will return to compliance with the Treaty.

Stoltenberg also said that other NATO countries fully comply with DON.

the Return of Russia to the full implementation of the Treaty is the best way to preserve it, concluded the NATO Secretary General.

Earlier NEWS.ru wrote that the President of the United States Donald trump signed the document about the intention of States to withdraw from the Treaty on open skies. However, the final decision was not made. In the administration of the President continue consultations on this issue.
