NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on behalf of the Alliance expressed concern about the presidential elections in Belarus, including "violence against peaceful demonstrators".
"NATO Allies have expressed serious concern about the presidential elections in Belarus. NATO condemns the violence against peaceful demonstrators. You need to respect the fundamental rights, including freedom of speech and the right to peaceful protest", – said in a written statement by the NATO Secretary General.
In Sunday have passed elections of the President of Belarus. According to the latest data of the CEC, incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko is gaining 80,08% of the vote, Svetlana Tikhanovski – 10,09%.
