an international group of scientists called the way of the fight against cytokine storm — an uncontrolled reaction of the immune system observed in patients with severe infection COVID-19. For this the researchers propose to use nanoparticles based on the adenosine. Article with the results of scientific work published in the journal Science Advances.

Experts have created nanoparticles that can accommodate multiple drugs — adenosine and squalene. The organic material encapsulated in a molecule of alpha-tocopherol — antioxidant, is a kind of vitamin E. These compounds are then delivered to tissue of mice, where they developed hyperphosphataemia reactions such as sepsis or a cytokine storm.

it Turned out that the nanoparticles reduced the level of the main proinflammatory cytokine of tumor necrosis factor-alpha. This was observed in all major organs, including lungs and kidneys, only four hours after treatment. According to scientists, the results are encouraging that this tool will help seriously ill people, although the experiment was performed on tissues of mice.

the Cytokine storm is a chain reaction that leads to destruction, as if struck by a pathogen tissue and neighboring. As a result the whole body cover the inflammatory processes that threaten multiple organ failure and death.
