In Belarus arrested the property of the applicant for the presidency, former head of Belgazprombank Viktor Babariko and his son Edward, said the state control Committee (SCC) of the country.
“We confirm this information, the Department of financial investigations of the state control Committee, was the arrest on their property,” explained RIA “news” the representative of the SCC.
Thursday in the house of the former head of Belgazprombank was searched, Babariko was arrested for an alleged attempt to influence the witnesses and withholding evidence of a crime. Son of Babariko also sent to jail.
Babariko remained a technical possibility to become an official candidate. The lawyers of Babariko filed a complaint to the Prosecutor General of the country on a non-admission of lawyers to his client.
Moscow has not yet commented on the trial against the former head of the Belarusian “daughter” of Gazprom, noting that the pre-election situation – an internal affair of Belarus. But Minsk almost openly accuses Babariko in lobbying for the interests of Russia and is discussing cooperation with Western diplomats in the “case of Belgazprombank”.
