Mass free testing for antibodies to coronavirus starts in Moscow on Friday, said the mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin.

"Test will be the ELISA method (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), which allows to detect the presence or absence in the blood of the patient IgM antibodies (a marker for the presence of coronavirus infection) and IgG (a marker of immunity to coronavirus infection). For testing, the city Government has installed automatic blood analyzers. By the end of may the total capacity of the urban system ELISA testing will exceed 200 thousand tests per day", – wrote the mayor on its official website.

"This allows us to have may 15, 2020, to start the implementation of screening programs – massive and free", – said the mayor.

According to him, the programme of IFA studies of population immunity, which starts in Moscow is unprecedented. Through the study, it is possible: maximum early detection of the disease in many people, especially those who carries the coronavirus without symptoms; to obtain reliable information about the situation with the spread of the coronavirus in the city and on individual city businesses and organizations.

Sobyanin also asked the Muscovites maximum responsible attitude to invitations to come to the clinic and take the test.

Blood sampling for testing will be carried out in 30 adult clinics (an average of three in each administrative district). Each clinic will open with two treatment rooms. Every few days approximately 70 thousand Muscovites will receive an invitation to a free delivery of the analysis.

Selected residents will be randomly in accordance with the age structure of the population of Moscow, and given County of residence, and invitations sent via e-mail or via SMS.
