Moscow was included in the rating “Top-100 emerging start-up ecosystems”, taking the 20th place. The Russian capital ahead of cities such as Taipei, Milan, Chengdu, Hamburg, Vienna. The experts evaluated the overall effectiveness of the startup ecosystem, the level of funding, the degree of access and talent development.

Consulting company Startup Genome published the rating “Top-100 emerging start-up ecosystems” as part of the prestigious global report on startup ecosystems (The Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2020).

In the rating of Moscow received the highest marks on two of the four indicators — the availability of financing and the level of development of talents and experiences. Assessment of the availability of investment carried out on the basis of funding in the early stages of its dynamics, growth in the number of investors and their experience. The indicator of “Talent and experience” included a number of specialists in the technological field, the number of programmers registered on Github (the largest web hosting service for it projects and their joint development) as well as average wages in the industry, the number aksitov (sale of their shares by shareholders, including the founders and investors) over the past 10 years.

Rating covers 270 ecosystems in more than 100 countries and compiled by international consulting firm Startup Genome.
