MOSCOW, 29 Sep – RIA Novosti. The resumption of the championship of Germany on football, is scheduled for may 9, may be postponed to a later date due to new cases of infection with coronavirus in the country, reports the Daily Mail.

Earlier, the German football League (DFL) has expressed readiness to resume the season on 9 may. From 20 April the German regions have begun a gradual lifting of restrictive measures that were introduced to combat coronavirus in the previous month.

According to the publication, in Germany in the last days slightly increased the incidence of coronavirus infection that could jeopardize the resumption of the season in the Bundesliga. It is noted that on Thursday the government will discuss next steps in combating the virus.

Football competitions in Germany suspended from mid-March until at least April 30.

According to the latest world health organization, in Germany there are more than 156 thousand cases of coronavirus, over 5.9 thousand people died.
