Last week, Marilyn Manson the rocker, surrendered to Los Angeles police. This was in connection with a New Hampshire 2019 warrant for his arrest. He allegedly assaulted a videographer during a concert. Authorities said.
Manson, who is legally known as Brian Hugh Warner is facing two misdemeanor charges of simple assault. They stem from an incident that occurred on August 19, 2019, at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion, Gilford.
Anthony J. Bean Burpee, Gilford police chief, stated Thursday that Manson turned himself in to law enforcement in Los Angeles the previous week. Manson was arrested and released on bail, pending his New Hampshire court appearance.
Manson’s lawyer did not respond to Friday’s requests for comment.
According to Gilford police, the victim was a videographer who was present in the venue’s pit area during the alleged assault. If convicted, each of the misdemeanors could result in a sentence of less than one year in jail and a $2,000 penalty.
Capt. Los Angeles Police Brent McGuyre confirmed Manson’s surrender to The Associated Press. Manson surrendered to the Hollywood station of the department on July 2, and was then processed for the warrant. He was released shortly thereafter.
McGuyre stated, “This is consistent for anyone who has a warrant for a misdemeanor that isn’t local.”
Manson has also been accused of abuse in the past, but these accusations are not related to the New Hampshire incident. He denied any wrongdoing.
Actor Evan Rachel Wood , her ex-fiancee, publicly accused Manson of sexual and other abuse during their relationship. Months later, Esme Bianco, the “Game of Thrones” actor, sued Manson in Los Angeles federal court claiming sexual, physical, and emotional abuse.
The AP does not usually identify those who claim they were sexually assaulted. However, Wood and Bianco have made public statements.
Los Angeles County prosecutors decided not to bring Manson charges over the allegations of assault, battery, and sexual assault that were alleged in 2011. They said they were limited by statutes and lack of evidence. In that case, the accuser was only identified as a friend of Manson.
