In the four years declined from 31% to 21% the proportion of Russians who would rather like to see a woman as President (the share of those who rather wouldn’t want this increased from 61% to 68%). In 2020 only 31% of respondents would rather like to see a woman in the post of Prime Minister, compared to 55% in 2016. The majority (56%) of Russians probably do not want this development four years ago the figure was 36%.

“If in 2016, 89% of respondents would rather like to see a woman as Minister of health, welfare or education, in 2020 this proportion fell to 69%, the greatest support a female politician enjoys as Minister of the social block of the government”, – stated in the results of the study. The share of those who rather would not like to see women in these positions increased compared with the year 2016 by 13%: from 7% to 20%.

If in 2016, 66% of respondents would rather like to see a woman at the head of one of the parties, then in 2020 this was stated by 51% of respondents. The share of those who rather wouldn’t want this increased from 26% to 35%. The woman-the head of faction or Committee of the state Duma in 2016 rather like to see 59% of respondents, and in 2020, it said only 51% of Russians. The share of those who rather wouldn’t want that, from 2016, increased from 30% to 35%, TASS reports.

Female President causes the rejection of both sexes

Russian men and women, according to the study, almost unanimous in their reluctance to see women in positions of power, to make key decisions. “As President of the woman SKOray would not want to see 68% of men and women, while as Prime Minister, 57% of men and 55% of women, respectively,” according to VTSIOM and the CTC.

Women are more likely to approve of the idea of women at the head of faction or Committee of the state Duma (55% of women vs 51% total sample), while men in this respect, often hold the opposite view (38% men vs 35% of women probably wouldn’t like that). A similar situation concerns the idea of a female leader of the party: it is supported by 55% of women and 51% men. Men often are configured oppositely (39% against 35% for the sample as a whole).

82% of men and 83% of women in 2020 rather want to see a woman as Minister of defense, the attorney General and the Minister of internal Affairs. But at the head of the Ministry of health, welfare or education of women in the sample as a whole want to see 72% of women and 69% men. Among men, relatively more of those who would rather not support this idea (24% vs 20%).

However for young people the image of a woman President more attractive. “In the age group 18 to 24 years 43% against 21% for the sample as a whole, rather would like to see a woman in office. While in most age categories 60+ less just wanting to see a woman President (78% vs. 68% total sample),” – said in the study.

In the age group 18 to 24 years are dominated by those who most support the women in the posts of Minister of health, welfare or education (81%), at the head of one of the leading parties (70%), at the head of faction or Committee in the state Duma (61%). In other cases (the posts of President, Prime Minister, defense Minister, interior Ministry or Prosecutor General) young people compared to the rest of the Russians often supported the idea of female leadership.

Tainsate of Moscow and St. Petersburg are more likely to want to see a woman as President (32%) or the Prime Minister (40%).
