FC Bayern is trying to rebuild before the new season, but also has to deal with players who want to leave the club. In a column, Lothar Matthäus deals with the new development for him.

“Players want to leave Bayern”: Lothar Matthäus regrets the development at Bayern. In his Sky column he writes: “It’s a shame and noticeable that more and more players want to leave FC Bayern. It wasn’t like that before. This development certainly does not cast a good light on this club. Some players don’t feel and didn’t feel comfortable with the best German club anymore.”

Mané no replacement: Matthäus does not see a suitable successor for Robert Lewandowski, who wants to leave Bayern, in Sadio Mané from Liverpool FC. “Apart from the fact that there is no replacement for the Pole in the world, I don’t see Mané as a center forward, but on the wing,” writes Matthäus.

Kalajdzic scores 25 goals: According to Matthäus, however, Bayern urgently need a new centre-forward. “That could be Sasa Kalajdzic from VfB Stuttgart. He probably doesn’t score 40 goals, but definitely 25”. If Mané were committed, Bayern would also have an oversupply of wingers. With Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sané and Kingsley Coman there would be too many offensive wingers in the team. “With Serge Gnabry it smells at least somewhat like farewell”.
