The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov held telephone talks with foreign Minister of Egypt Sameh shoukry.

“during the conversation held on the initiative of the Egyptian party, shoukry expressed concern about the situation in Egyptian-Ethiopian relations in connection with the construction of the Addis Ababa HPP “Revival” on the Blue Nile river,” — said in a statement.
It is clarified that the foreign Minister of Egypt also indicated during the conversation that Cairo has appealed to the UN security Council with a request to consider the possibility of interchange.
In turn, Lavrov reaffirmed Russia’s position on the need to achieve a mutually acceptable compromise taking into account the interests of all stakeholders.
The Ministry added that the Ministers also exchanged views on the situation in Libya.
Earlier, presidential special representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov said that Moscow supports the initiative of the Cairo ceasefire in Libya.
