Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov commented on the US attitude to the main export pipeline “Nord stream-2” and their intention to introduce new restrictive measures. It is quoted by RIA Novosti.

“the European Union, promoting its unilateral sanctions, refrained from their extraterritorial application, in contrast to the United States. And they don’t see no red lines, no edges,” — said the diplomat.

He also expressed his opinion about Washington’s goals: according to Lavrov, they just want to be able to “do what they please”.

The foreign Minister stressed that the project “Northern stream-2” is complete. He suggested that it will be done soon.

Earlier, Lavrov and his colleague, the foreign Minister of Germany Heiko Maas agreed to unite in construction in the conditions of active opposition from the United States.

Washington, in turn, actively opposes construction of the “Nord stream-2”. At the end of last year had imposed sanctions on all companies involved in the project, after which the Swiss Allseas was forced to withdraw the pipe from the Baltic sea. Further restrictions were extended included in the US defence budget and related including insurance companies, collaborating with project participants.

Many European countries, especially Germany, do not agree with the position of the White house and make an effort to counteract the already introduced and potential limitations. The German authorities insist that the project has economic purpose and will not affect the energy security of the European Union.
