The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov urged the European Union to facilitate the implementation by the Ukrainian authorities of the Minsk agreements. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

According to the Ministry of foreign Affairs, the Minister following the meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions of member countries of the European Union and head of the EU delegation in Russia noted the need for non-discriminatory approach to the provision of language and educational rights of all citizens of Ukraine.

During the conversation the parties discussed topical international issues, including the situation in Libya and Venezuela, as well as the issue of Iran’s nuclear program. Representatives of Russia and the countries-EU members considered the prospects of development of bilateral relations. Special attention was paid to cooperation in overcoming the consequences of the epidemic of the coronavirus.

Earlier the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel during telephone talks negatively assessed the statement of Ukraine about the need to revise the Minsk agreement. In addition, the heads of state had confirmed that no alternative to the Minsk agreements as the basis for resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
