the Head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, commenting on the amendments to the Constitution, said President Vladimir Putin needs to run for another term.

“today, I don’t see the person you could call a successor. Such far-sighted and wise political decisions, sincere and deep love to the Fatherland, the peoples of the country I have not seen even one policy. And talk about the successor of our President considers that it is inappropriate”, — Kadyrov wrote in the Telegram.

According to him, of the 206 existing amendments, most attacks have been the one that concerns the nullification of presidential terms. “On the eve of the vote, the West and its henchmen intensified anti-Russian activities. In impotent hysteria the West tries to discredit the referendum of the amendment, to belittle their importance”, — said the Chechen leader.

Kadyrov believes that amending the Constitution is a strategic decision of Vladimir Putin, which is aimed at strengthening of the power and sovereignty of the country.

“I fully support all, without exception, amendments to the Russian Constitution, put to a vote,” concluded the head of Chechnya.

“I do not exclude the possibility of running if it is there in the Constitution. Let’s see, we’ll see,” said he. Meanwhile, Putin said that “for myself, nothing is decided”.

He also spoke about the role of the amendments to abolish presidential terms. “If it is not [the amendment], two years later, I know that from experience already, instead of the normal smooth operation on many levels of government will start the roving eyes in search for possible successors,” Putin explained.

the President proposed to amend the Constitution in the Federal Assembly on 15 January. After completing all formalities he signed the law on amendments on 14 March. One of them involves the nullification of presidential terms for the incumbent head of state and his predecessors.

to Make this change in the presidential amendments proposed by the Deputy from “United Russia” Valentina Tereshkova. She said that Russia needs a strong presidential power, because at the moment there are “risks of unpredictability”. The vote on the amendments scheduled for 1 July.
