Joe Biden has announced that he and his wife, Jill, have both tested negative for Covid-19 following concerns the two may be infected after both the president and first lady tested positive.

“I’m happy to report that Jill and I have tested negative for COVID. Thank you to everyone for your messages of concern,” Biden tweeted on Friday. He was tested that morning, after President Trump announced on Thursday evening he was positive for the virus.

“I hope this serves as a reminder: wear a mask, keep social distance, and wash your hands,” Biden added in his tweet.

President Trump’s announcement that he and his wife had contracted the virus came after it was discovered on Thursday that a close adviser, Hope Hicks, had tested positive. Since then, Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen have also been tested, later announcing that the results were negative.
