Indonesia relies on the advent of a vaccine against coronavirus by mid-2021. This statement was made by the President of Indonesia Joko Widodo on the occasion of the beginning of clinical trials of a drug developed jointly with Chinese colleagues.

“We are working on its own vaccine for three months,” Widodo was quoted by the newspaper the Jakarta Post. The President hopes that the drug will be ready “ASAP.” The first injection has already received about 20 volunteers. In total, the trials will involve about 1.6 thousand volunteers, among them the Governor of the province of West Java Ridwan Kamil.

According to the most optimistic forecasts, clinical trials will last until January next year. It is planned that Indonesia will produce about 250 million doses of vaccine per year, reports TASS.
