On the Mamaev Kurgan opened a stele in memory of the natives of Adygeya participated in the battle of Stalingrad.
As found by Republican historians, 475 Adyghe soldiers and officers died in battle on the Volga. Another 808 people went home with the award “For defense of Stalingrad”.
– an Amazing event happens in the year of the 75th anniversary of the great Victory here in the Holy land. For every Russian citizen Stalingrad fundamental concept that is deep in your heart, – said at the opening of a memorable sign the head of the Adygeya delegation Konstantin Scherbakov.
the Monument is an open book: on the left “page” text in the Adyghe language, the right in Russian: “Eternal memory to the sons and daughters of the Republic of Adygea – the defenders of Stalingrad.” And big again in two languages derived the word “memory” (“sail”).
At the memorial cemetery Mamayev Kurgan are already monuments to the natives of other republics of Russia: Tatarstan, North Ossetia, Ingushetia, Chechnya, Dagestan. Also paid tribute to their fallen countrymen and some regions: the Rostov, Smolensk, Ryazan.
