KIEV, may 5 — RIA Novosti. the arrest in Absentia ex-President Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych on the case of usurpation of power will begin the procedure of extradition and to obtain permission for correspondence pre-trial investigation proceedings against him, said Tuesday the office of the attorney General of the country.
Earlier the lawyer Yanukovych Vitaliy Serdyuk has told RIA Novosti that the Pechersky district court of Kiev arrested in absentia for two months ex-President Ukraine located outside it, in the case of “usurpation of power”.
“this decision of the court entitles the prosecution to start against Viktor Yanukovych extradition procedure. Also, prosecutors will apply to the court for resolution on implementation of the special pre-trial investigation (in absentia) (in absentia pre-trial investigation — ed.)”, — stated in the message.
In the office of the attorney General recalled that in the framework of the case investigated “the circumstances of the seizure of Yanukovych in the period September — October 2010 state authorities by making actions aimed at illegal increase in his powers as President of Ukraine,” due to return “unconstitutional manner” of the Constitution of Ukraine of 28 June 1996.
Earlier protection ex-President repeatedly reported that Yanukovych lives in the Russian Rostov-on-don.
Previously, the security service of Ukraine presented to the head of the constitutional court Yury Bowline suspicion of abuse of power.
