The launch of the carrier rocket “Atlas-5” with an experimental ship of the U.S. air force X-37B delayed due to adverse weather conditions. May 16, reported the press service of the company-operator of the launch United Launch Alliance (ULA).

The carrier rocket “Atlas-5” with the vehicle X-37B was to be launched from the pad at Cape Canaveral at 15:24 Moscow time. Because of the dense Cumulus clouds and strong winds delayed the launch for two hours. In the ULA noted that the next launch attempt is scheduled for 17:13 GMT.

Ships unmanned X-37B used by the US air force to conduct long-term (up to several years) experiments in earth orbit. The first ship of this series was launched in 2010.

The forthcoming launch will be the sixth for ships of this series. Details about the testing program were not disclosed, but representatives of the space forces of the United States noted that the program of this launch included experiments to study cosmic radiation.
