The head of Central command (CENTCOM) of the Armed forces of the U.S. General Kenneth Mackenzie stated that he received from the national intelligence reports of “collusion” between Russia and members of the Afghan radical movement “Taliban” (an organization banned in Russia) lacked a sufficient evidence base. This position was voiced by the American media, reports TASS.

“the Thing about intelligence did not seem to me persuasive, it did not have sufficient evidence in order for me to be able to initiate its consideration in court”, — said the General.

He stressed that he had not received information about the impact of Moscow on the situation in Afghanistan.

Mackenzie added that, as in recent years, the Taliban actively attacked U.S. military, a series of articles in The New York Times has not changed the approach of the Pentagon to ensure the safety of its employees in Afghanistan.

On 7 July the White house began its own investigation after the publication in the media about the “conspiracy” of Russia.

The New York Times on 26 June, citing intelligence reported that the Russian military intelligence secretly offered to pay for the murder of American soldiers. Thus, Moscow allegedly wanted to disrupt the peace negotiations, the U.S. and the Taliban, says the publication. The newspaper called the chief mediator in the “conspiracy” of Russia with the Taliban Afghan smuggler of drugs Rahmatullah Azizi. Trump believes this false information, it also denied the Taliban, and in Moscow.

The Taliban was formed in 1994 in the midst of civil war in Afghanistan. In 1996-2001 the Taliban were in power in the country, and after the overthrow in 2001, began a guerrilla war with government troops and NATO forces in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The US sent troops to Afghanistan after the terrorist attack of 11 September 2001 in new York.
