The destabilization of the situation in Serbia does not meet the interests of Russia in the Balkan Peninsula, told RIA Novosti member of the state Duma Committee on international Affairs Elena Panina, commenting on the accusations against Russia of involvement in anti-government riots in Belgrade.

Earlier, Serbian Pro-Western NGOs "Center for Euro-Atlantic studies" (CEAS) and a number of local media published information about "Russian track" in anti-government speeches. The Russian Ambassador responded by saying that such accusations are "primitive Russophobic cliches". The Russian foreign Ministry called the reports "stuffing" designed to cast a shadow on the Russian-Serbian partnership.

The President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic stated that the country has evidence of Russian involvement in the past in the country in the past few days of anti-government demonstrations, was seen "weirdos" from other States.

"Organization "color" political riots were never a tool of Russia in the dialogue with other countries, especially in relation to Serbia, which refused to impose sanctions against Russia and is working closely with our country. Destabilization of Serbia contrary to the interests of Russia in the Balkans and threatens the current status of this country as a neutral, non-aligned state, friendly to Russia", – said Panin.

She also added that "NATO lobby" in the Balkans, Vucic is "bone in the throat".

"Now it is trying to remove from power by any means, including through the involvement in the riots Patriotic Serbs who fear "surrender", "surrender of sovereignty over Kosovo", – said the Deputy.

The participants of the protests, which began last week in Belgrade and other Serbian cities, require, among other things, the resignation of President Aleksandar Vucic and protest against plans of the authorities to toughen measures against the spread of coronavirus. The protests have no single organizer or a clear plan of action.
