In the Bundestag supported the Nord stream 2 and opposed gas from the US

Construction of the pipeline “Nord stream-2” important for Europe and extraterritorial U.S. sanctions in this context are unacceptable and require a response. This was stated by the head of the Bundestag Committee for economic Affairs and energy of Klaus Ernst.

“Germany and Europe to decide from whom to buy gas, and it does not depend on the crisis around coronavirus”, – TASS quoted the Ernst. Us sanctions against companies, including European ones, are involved in the construction of the gas pipeline is unacceptable and demand a tough response from Europe. “For example, sanctions against American precingular gas,” – said the Deputy.

Germany needs gas supplies from Russia, but the American gas cannot be an alternative because of its high cost and ecologicheski. According to German policy, energy partnership is a positive signal for German-Russian relations that need to develop.

Previously, the survey of the Institute for the study of public opinion Forsa, conducted on the initiative of the Eastern Committee of German economy, showed that on the background of a difficult economic situation related to the coronavirus in Germany has increased support in favor of the construction of the pipeline “Nord stream-2”. Three quarters of respondents (77%) called for a speedy conclusion of the Russian-European project, despite the declared U.S. restrictive measures.

“and the stream-2” includes two pipelines through the Baltic sea to Germany. Its total capacity will be 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
