on 23 June, the European court of human rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg declared that Roskomnadzor has violated the provisions of the European Convention on human rights, blocking in the RF sites “Facet.ru”, Kasparov.ru and Ej.ru.

According to the ECHR, the decision of the Russian Federal service violates the Convention on human rights on freedom of expression and the right to an effective remedy. The court ordered the Russian government to pay the founders of the three sites for 10 000 euros in compensation.

In 2014, the Prosecutor General’s office demanded that Roskomnadzor blocked in the country sites “Facet.ru” with Kasparov.ru and Ej.ru. The Supervisory authority pointed to the fact that these resources contain calls to mass riots and participation in the unapproved mass actions.
