Russia are working on developing artificial intelligence for unmanned aerial vehicles. This is necessary because the tasks that trust drones, are becoming more and more responsible. This was told edition of the “Army standard”.

In recent years, in hot spots in the drones are used increasingly. They are fighting with the defenses of the enemy and often they win. Appeared tactics of combat application of the “swarm” of unmanned vehicles, which greatly increases the combat effectiveness of new weapons.

the problem With the drone strike complicated. As writes the edition, the Usual control scheme “operator of the drone” – more often fails. Information flows in control systems for drones often exceed those who are able to perceive people to develop appropriate solutions. The flow of information multiple to increase with increasing populations of drones.

the solution in this situation is the creation of an information system based on artificial intelligence. Such systems are able to provide assistance to operators and commanders in the analysis of information, assessing situation and making decisions. In addition, such systems allow to “teach” the drones themselves, to assess the situation and organise the management of the group with the loss of information contact with the operator.

On the creation of such systems working group of experts of the research center “Institute named after N. E.Zhukovsky” under the leadership of the Director of the project complex “Robotic aircraft systems”, Professor of General-Lieutenant of a stock Vladimir Kutakhov, the son of air Marshal Paul Kutakhov, Soviet air force commander.

Scientists are working on methods of artificial intelligence technologies in the creation and management of large-scale intelligent unmanned aerial systems. As writes the edition, aims to provide opportunities for drones to act and make decisions independently, depending on the development environment.

“to Make any device remotely operated or remotely controlled is not too difficult. But this stage has already passed, – quotes the edition of Vladimir Kutakhov. – Now you need to create a management system that really could make the machine not just unmanned and robotic. It needs to possess a certain level of artificial intelligence, algorithms, ability to make decisions within the given framework, to work in a group.”

According to experts, the group of drones can be, for example, the intelligence apparatus, the apparatus for relaying communications signals NakhonEC vehicles and attack drones.

the Publication writes that monofunctional devices are easier to develop and launch into production. At the same time, United in groups, they will be the easily formed squadrons, regiments and even divisions to perform the required tasks in the right place. Managing drones in this case is seen not as a management of each separate unmanned aircraft, and as the management of the entire group as a whole.

According to experts, the variety and scale of the groups will increase from a few devices to large groups of related information, with diverse capabilities and functions of drones.

In the future, according to experts of the research center named after Zhukovsky, will go to the management of groups of unmanned aerial vehicles. Although this subject is more distant perspective, to begin to address these research needs.
