According to the results of the latest inventory in Russia, 11 objects of the animal world are considered probably disappeared. This means that the last representatives of these species have become extinct. We are talking, in particular, about the red-legged ibis, the black-bellied kluhar, the monk seal and Przhevalsky’s horse . Another 11 objects of the living world, according to the results of the latest inventory, are classified as rare 0, that is, probably disappeared, ” the ministry said in a statement.

Among the extinct species are the population of the Atlantic sturgeon in the Black Sea basin, the native population of the Baltic sturgeon, the red-legged ibis, the black-bellied capercaillie, Yankovsky’s bunting, monk seal, kulan, Przhevalsky’s horse and others.

According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, nine species and subspecies of animals have disappeared from the territory of Russia over the past 400 years, including the tura, the steppe tarpan and the Morus cow.

Currently, there are 443 objects of the animal world and 676 plant species in the Red Book of the Russian Federation.
