In Moscow, a monument to курьерамDо regime of self-isolation only in Moscow worked more than 60 thousand couriers

“Azbuka Vkusa”, Perekrestok.ru, Ozon, “Dodo Pizza” Delivery Club and with the support of the group’s creative agencies Possible Group have teamed up to create the installation and thank all the staff of couriers and delivery services who selflessly worked during the regime of isolation.

This is the first monument in the world dedicated to members of the service delivery — a number of countries are now developing projects for the installation of monuments in honour of those who distinguished themselves at the forefront of the fight against the pandemic. The Russian companies — leaders in e-commerce and foodtech in the country — thought it important to highlight the great contribution and people of other professions, in particular couriers and services of delivery, which for the mode isolation provided the population with everything necessary, risking their own health.

The art object was installed in Moscow on the territory of the Partnership “Ryabovskoe Manufactory” in Refrigerating lane, 3. The author of the work became the art Director Alexey garikovich, which is known for its creative work for FMCG brands. When creating the monument uses materials traditionally associated with the urban environment and urban-style — metal and concrete. On the memorial plaque, the creators wrote: “Those who made the isolation possible.”

“Only in Moscow during the regime of self-isolation worked more than 60 thousand couriers, in General, in Russia the demand for delivery services has increased tenfold. In different cities now considering the installation of monuments in honor of the doctors and volunteers and we in turn thought it important to pay attention to the work of those who daily continued to deliver orders, making the mode of isolation possible for many people across the country. Installation “Monument to the courier” is our “thank you” to all staff of delivery that every day just go to work and bring us comfort, peace and security,” — commented the representatives of the companies supporting the project.

“During a pandemic, couriers have become the link between the external and the internal world of our houses and apartments. It is the couriers every day I go to work, often not even thinking about what kind of feat they do. This thought I have expressed in the monument, its shape, materials and way — it is not about pathos but about the history of cities, countries, space, and all people without exception. Symbolically and through the silhouette of the monument, and the place of its installation: from the street we can see the internal space, and the yard, where a monument, — the external,” says the author of the monument, the artistic Director Alexei garikovich.
