the Relevant requirements included in the new rules for medical examination of donors of blood for admission to donation, developed by the Ministry of health. The document is available for discussion on the Federal portal of projects of normative legal acts.

the Main novelty is that now the donor blood to check for antibodies to the nuclear antigen of hepatitis b virus (anti-HBC). As explained in the Ministry of health, this is due to the spread of latent forms of the disease, which is very difficult to be diagnosed. Before the examination revealed only a superficial antigen of hepatitis B. This is really the main marker of acute or chronic infection, but it is not always possible to define it in a latent state. The new requirement will eliminate any possibility of infecting recipients with hepatitis B.

under the new rules in the case of questionable tests for the presence of infection to the donor will be given a disqualification for 120 days, after which it will invite to a new survey. However, when re-testing the sample of blood with an indeterminate result will be considered positive, and the withdrawal from the donation of blood and its components will already be permanent.

“the Establishment of the clinical diagnosis of the donor is not included in the tasks of service of blood”, at the same time, she “is responsible for the quality and safety of prepared blood and its components for the health of the recipient”, so “for decision-making there is no fundamental difference, is present in the donor organism, virus or serum reactivity associated with nonspecific reactions due to any other pathology,” reads the explanatory note to the draft document.

the Reason for refusal of donation can now be the age of 20 years and body weight less than 70 kilograms before a potential donor, it was enough to be of age and weigh 50 kilograms.

It is forbidden to donate blood with low or high blood pressure, weak pulse, temperatures above 37 degrees, pregnant, for 10-30 days after vaccination (depending on vaccinations), diseases of kidneys, acute gastritis or gastric ulcer, in the period of taking antibiotics. Also donation are excluded within 120 days after some cosmetic procedures: body piercing, tattoos, acupuncture. Limited to its annual quantity: for example, now men can give blood up to five times within 12 months, and women not more than four. The volume of plasma harvested from a donor in one calendar year cannot be more than 20 litres, and the donation of two or more componentsof instruments of blood during one procedure should not exceed 750 milliliters. Questionnaires of donors should be stored in the organization of the blood service for five years.

As told in the Ministry of health, in Russia the number of donors increased annually and now stands at about two million people, it turns out that for every 1,000 people there are 14-15 donors. However, according to the who, to meet the need for blood should be three times more of a daily blood transfusion needs of more than 1.5 million people.

the Number of honorary donors are also increasing. To get into their ranks, you must pass the donated blood 40 times or 60 times to donate blood components. After that, the donor fills in a form for transfusion and in a few months, gets major documents: ID and icon.
