the Monument was erected on the site of a former naval base in Porkkala, which the Soviet Union leased until 1956. Three granite steles immortalized the names of 100 members of the submarine M-97, Sch-304 “Komsomolets” and of Sch-311 “Kumzha”, which sank in the Gulf of Finland in 1942 in combat jobs.
As reported, on Friday the Ambassador of Russia in Finland Pavel Kuznetsov and representatives of the Russian Embassy laid wreaths and flowers at the memorial.
