the Monument was erected on the site of a former naval base in Porkkala, which the Soviet Union leased until 1956. Three granite steles immortalized the names of 100 members of the submarine M-97, Sch-304 “Komsomolets” and of Sch-311 “Kumzha”, which sank in the Gulf of Finland in 1942 in combat jobs.
