In Egypt, international archaeological mission during the excavation in the ancient city of Oxyrhynchus have unearthed a strange tomb, the style does not resemble any other known tomb found in the area.

About the opening with reference to the statement of the Ministry of tourism and antiquities of Egypt, reports Archaeology News Network. It was made by the members of the joint mission of Egyptian archaeologists has helped colleagues from the University of Barcelona, working in the city of El Bahnasa.

the Tomb was found in the necropolis, which “WG” is already told. Earlier in Oxyrinchus archaeologists have unearthed the burial complex where the tomb was located literally layers – tombs of the Roman period, was constructed on top of ancient Egyptian.

Now scientists have presented a description of one of the tombs found there, which surprised them with its design. Nothing like before, not found. It is established that this structure applies to the XXVI dynasty of the pharaohs (664-525 BC), also called the Saite dynasty.

“This tomb is unique because this style has never been discovered in El Bahnasa, says Dr. Mustafa Vaziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of antiquities of Egypt. – It consists of one burial chamber and has entrance from the North. Its walls are arranged so that the ceiling was domed, as in all other previously excavated in this area the tombs”.

Another feature of the burial of Dr. Vaziri said, is that it was not ritual objects. It is not the case for either of ancient Egypt Pharaonic times, nor for the Roman period in this state. In all the tombs, even the poorest, had previously found some religious items.

According to the head of the Spanish part of the mission of Dr. Esther Pons, in eight other tombs found during the excavations were found several Roman tombstones and bronze coins, a small crucifix, seals, inkwells and bronze earrings. Several items are associated with people dying much later in the Byzantine period.

Among the findings highlighted a gravestone from the tomb of a former slave. As already told “RG”, scientists believe that this man was not only freed, but also lived in prosperity and flourished during times when they were free.
