In 2021, the tourist flow to the Crimea exceeded seven million people — this is a record for the entire post-Soviet period. This was stated by the head of the region Sergey Aksenov on his page in VKontakte.

According to him, by the end of summer, the tourist flow to the peninsula exceeded the indicators of the pre-pandemic 2019 by 24 percent. It is noted that in the summer months, more than 5.2 million people rested in the Crimea — this is one and a half times more than in the same period in 2020.

Aksenov added that from January to August 2021, the majority of travelers (62 percent) arrived on the peninsula by private cars and buses on the Crimean Bridge. 30 percent of vacationers used planes, 8 percent-trains.

The Head of the republic noted that in August, the load of hotels was 82 percent, and in some areas of the Crimea this figure exceeded 90 percent.

Earlier, in August, it became known about the record rush of tourists at the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory in comparison with the pre-2019 year. According to Rosstat, in May-June 2021, the revenue of hotels, sanatoriums and catering establishments in Kuban amounted to 34.7 billion rubles.
