In Belarus the militia captain Egor Emelyanov, who resigned amid mass protests in the country because of the presidential elections, was detained for two days. He told about it in interview to “the Russian service Bi-bi-si”.

“it seems that the system in which I served offended,” said he.

According to him, it drew up a Protocol for conducting mass events through social network Instagram.

“the Judge acquitted me, thinking that it is simply impossible the holding of a mass event by publishing photos,” — said Emelyanov.

He added that while he was here, but he is afraid of certain services that may also try to produce something.

The former police captain said that during the arrest did not resist. In the detention center he came “almost a hero”, they greeted him with applause. He added that in prison he was fed, allowed to transfer.

According to the interlocutor of the edition, his wife supported the decision to leave the service. Emelyanov worked on a five-year contract, he had to return part of the paid money since it is not finalized until the end of the contract.

“the Last straw was this present situation. I just realized that I can’t go against the people, to go to the square to take up the shield” — he said.

However, he said that could not leave colleagues in the course of the rally.

He added that he feared for his family, and admitted that he may have to leave the country.

“My son is 11, daughter is 3 years old. Fear. For the family – the most,” he said.

The decision to leave the service Emelyanov reported on August 11 in Instagram.

“17 years of service is over. My conscience is clear. Militia with the people”, — he wrote.

In Belarus on 9 and 10 August were mass protests and clashes with Riot police because of the official results of the presidential elections, according to which incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko gained more than 80 percent.
