The European Union (EU) should halt negotiations on the admission of Turkey, which became a historic mistake. This was stated on Thursday by Manfred Weber, the head of the largest political party of a supranational EU – the conservative European people’s party (EPP), speaking at a session of the European Parliament.
"the accession Negotiations of Turkey was a historical mistake that caused only frustration in Turkey and have brought the country closer to the EU. We need to stop the accession negotiations of Turkey to the EU and to develop a new legal basis for our relations with that country," he said.
