You gave us peace and freedom! Rest in peace my friend, Gospodin Mikhail Sergeyevich. Mikhail Gorbachev had the size and strength of character to change the world. 350,000 Soviet occupation soldiers left East Germany on his orders. He had peacefully won freedom in Central and Eastern Europe.
Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev replaced confrontation with negotiation, a courageous stance then and now. There is no alternative but to pursue the leitmotif “humanity”. I am infinitely grateful to my fate for the many valuable encounters with a strong personality like Mikhail Sergeyevich, who never looked at his own personal popularity ratings, but was driven by the vision of a better world. We must be measured by his legacy. Today a Russian European, a philanthropist, one of the most influential politicians of our epoch passed away. We will miss him…..right now.
