The first and only Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev denied the existence of a plan on the transfer of Karelia in Finland.

“Actually, this is news to me,” said Gorbachev to “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, commenting on the information given in the book of the diplomat, former expert of the Finnish Ministry of foreign Affairs of Yucca Seppinen.

Former President of the USSR admitted that “maybe someone besides us did something”, and noted that he personally “absolutely nothing” is taken in this direction.

Revealed Gorbachev’s plan to give Finland Karelia

As reported by “the Rambler”, informed the former employee of the Finnish Ministry for foreign Affairs Jukka Seppinen in his autobiography said that the Soviet leadership headed by Mikhail Gorbachev seriously preparing to start negotiations with Finland on the transfer to it of Karelia. According to the diplomat, the alienation of Russian territory could happen in the 80’s-early 90-ies of the last century.
